Another appointee chosen by the noble’s council, Edward serves to advise the king on the relevant laws enacted by the council to prevent the monarch from overstepping his bounds. King Bryant and Edward actually get along despite his appointment to a role that seeks to waylay the monarchy’s choices. Edward is a half-blood, a bastard the product of his father’s dalliances with a prostitute in Newtonne. Perhaps it is for that reason that Edward doesn’t take his charge too seriously, he doesn’t have a vested interest in the noble’s acquisition of more power and wealth.
Edward realizes his position is completely dependent on there being a king to keep in check. For that reason, he encourages King Bryant when he takes actions that adhere to the letter of the law but skirt the intent. King Bryant often pushes boundaries with Edward exasperating the man.
